The tools that
do the work.

The toolset

Four tools, one map

Everything you need to mark an area, follow a vessel and navigate quickly — all reachable with a single key.

Radius mode

Click a point and drag out a circle to mark an area of interest in one move.

Polygon mode

Draw any irregular shape point by point — locks, bends, ferry banks.

Vessel track

Click a vessel to reveal its path across the map, in Live or History.

Radius mode · R

Define an area in one click

Press R, click a point on the map and drag out a circle. Radius mode is the fastest way to mark an area of interest — a buoy, a berth, a junction — and immediately see which vessels fall inside.

  • Click to set the centre, move to size the radius, click again to confirm
  • Hold Shift and click to drop multiple radii in one session
  • Every radius instantly counts the vessels inside it
  • Use it as the area for any analysis in History mode
Radius mode
Polygon mode · P

Trace any shape, exactly

When a circle won't do, press P and click point by point to draw a precise polygon. Ideal for irregular shapes — a lock chamber, a river bend, or one bank of a ferry route.

  • Click to add each corner; close the shape to finish
  • Undo the last point with ⌘Z if you misclick
  • Follows the real outline of locks, berths and waterways
  • More accurate than a radius for non-circular areas
Polygon mode
Vessel track · V

Follow a single vessel's path

Press V and click a vessel to reveal its track across the map. See exactly where a ship came from and where it's heading — useful for understanding a route, a delay, or unusual behaviour.

  • Click any vessel to draw its recent track
  • Works in both Live and History mode
  • Combine with an area to see how a vessel moved through it
  • Clear the track with a single click to keep the map clean

Search · /

Jump straight to what you need

Press / to open search and type the name of an area or location. UAIS takes you there instantly — no panning or zooming around the map.

  • Find any saved area by name
  • Fly straight to a location on the map
  • Start typing and pick a suggestion from the list
  • The quickest way to navigate a busy map

Tips

Get the most out of the tools

Learn the shortcuts

R, P, V and / are all single keys. Press S at any time to see the full list of keyboard shortcuts.

Combine the tools

Draw an area with Radius or Polygon, then use Vessel track to see exactly who moved through it.

Tighter is better

Keep radii and polygons close to the real feature. A shape that is too wide picks up passing traffic.

Search before you scroll

On a busy map, search is almost always faster than panning and zooming to find a location.
